This is Book #3 in the Wedding Date series by Jasmine Guillory.

I stumbled upon this author when her book The Proposal was one of the picks for Reese’s Book Club. I really enjoyed reading that book and thought it was an easy read.

At that point, I didn’t even know that book was part of a series! Since, I liked The Proposal so much I picked this up when I saw it (still didn’t know it was part of a series then).

From Amazon:

Maddie and Theo have two things in common:

1. Alexa is their best friend

2. They hate each other

After an “Oops, we made a mistake” kiss, neither one can stop thinking about the other. With Alexa’s wedding rapidly approaching, Maddie and Theo both share bridal party responsibilities that require more interaction with each other than they’re comfortable with. Underneath the sharp barbs they toss at each other is a simmering attraction that won’t fade. It builds until they find themselves sneaking off together to release some tension when Alexa isn’t looking.

But as with any engagement with a nemesis, there are unspoken rules that must be abided by. First and foremost, don’t fall in love.

This book was okay, I didn’t love it.

The characters and their storylines were cute and also the intertwining of the characters from the other books and how it all fits in was also interesting to read through.

The story is set in San Francisco, where I live, so that was also cool for me to read through but other than that nothing noteworthy for me. The friends to enemy trope is probably one of the best tropes in the romantic genre - in this book though didn’t really feel like they were enemies - they disliked each other but a couple of chapters in they were having sex with each other and then the real story between them didn’t really develop till almost 1/3 of the book.

The storyline lacked the buildup, spark, gripping component that I am looking for when I read a book. Also, I think Maddie and Theo needed to do something else in the book other than eating Pizza and have sex! LMAO.

I kid you not I think they eat pizza in this book like more than 50 times from the time the book starts to the time the book ends.

Overall, I liked the book for its interesting characters, location and being part of a series with some familiar characters (if you have read the other books) but other than that I was a little disappointed after reading her other book The Proposal, which I absolutely loved.

This book is ⭐⭐⭐ stars for me.

If you enjoyed this post, you will love my Instagram. I share what I am reading and post book reviews.
